What is Coaching at its Best?

Tom Landry said, "A coach is there to get you to do the things you don't want to do, in order to become what you want to be."

          What is a Coach?

A coach  is professionally trained individual who focuses on supporting you. He or she is trained in language, practice, competencies and distinctions in order to facilitate you reaching your goals and becoming proficient at what you do.

A competent coach
is as necessary for a business as a coach is for a sports team.
There is a vast difference between life coaching and counseling.  These difference are foundational to each form of client interaction.  The essential differences are that the practice of counseling is designed to revisit the past and in re-patterning thinking.  Counselors are in the business of recovery from events in the past,  whereas, a coach is more interested in changing the present in order to create the desired future.  Coaches move their clients in the direction of accomplishment, rather than fixing the past.

People hire a coach because they want more of something (money, time, happiness, success, freedom)  or less of something (frustration, toleration, delays).

A
coach is trained to work with a client on both personal and business goals,  while a therapist  works on issues.  Both work on values, perspectives and active participation in the process.

Coaching works because of the synergy resulting from a professional relationship.

Few people need a coach, most folks want a coach.

Within a few years, it will become common to have a coach.
The question will not be "Do you have a coach?" but, "Who is your coach?"

As Americans put up with less and expect more out of life, they'll find a willing and supportive partner in a professional coach.

Having it all is just the beginning.  Most Americans today want it all without having to pay the price.  With coaching this becomes possible, not a pipedream.  You may not get it "all" but you can get all that matters most.

Coaching is becoming popular as time becomes more valuable.  Today, few of us can afford the steep learning curve of life.  What would it be like to be wise, happy and successful this year as opposed to . waiting for a decade or two?

Self-help is dead. Who has the patience to work on oneself all by oneself?
That is old technology.

The best Olympic skaters all have a coach that they've bonded with, who brings out their best.

Doesn't everyone deserve to have a coach who brings out their best?

What is Coaching?   It is more than quotes.
